Vintage metal curling rod iron with wood handles. Spring pin hinged - squeeze to open. This type of curling iron was heated over a stove or fire then applied to the hair. Sounds scary to me! Imagine what would happen had you heated it a little too much! Yikes!
While I certainly wouldn't use one of these oldies they DO make excellent decor pieces for the vintage powder room, salon or beautician's studio.
By the way - the first electric curling iron was invented in 1959.
Measures 9-5/8" long with a 1/4" diameter rod. Marked made in USA.
