Antique railroad workers drinking cup with tapered sides and a rolled top edge. Composition is a tin galvanized type metal. This cup differs from others seen of this type in that it does not have the vertical sides nor the folded edge bottom. The bottom attachment of the handle appears to be a weld of sorts. The raised stamping on the bottom of the cup reads S. A. L. RY. and stands for Seaboard Air Line Railway.

Measurements 2" tall x 3-1/4" diameter bottom with a 4-1/2" diameter top edge (5-1/4" wide including the handle). The shape of this cup leads us to think this might possibly have been a workers coffee cup as opposed to the standard water cup. We cannot verify this however.

The stamping is easily read and the cup shows no sign of rust. Excellent vintage condition. Purchased from the estate of a serious and well read railroad artifact collector.
