This vintage Chicago Public High School ROTC tag started out life as a medallion. The medallion was deconstructed, drilled and attached to a leather strap. What was it used for? In it's present condition we expect it may have been used as sort of a luggage tag - so that is what we are calling it. Whatever the original owners intent was - it definitely turned into a one of a kind piece!
The back of the medallion (the part that would have attached to a chain) was removed and several tiny holes were drilled at the top edge. These holes were used to attach a wire which then attached to a leather strap. Only a portion of the wire remains attached to one of the holes.
The leather strap is old and weathered - just like fine leather should be. It could use a cleaning and conditioning with the proper product. We have not done so as we wanted to present the piece in it's entirety and original (to us) condition.
Overall the piece has vintage patina as would be expected.
