This piece didn't begin life as a patch per se but rather was sewn directly onto a piece of clothing. At some point it was trimmed out of the original garment. It is approximately a 3" rough diameter. The embroidery portion is complete and uncut.
The Tampa Bay (Florida) Devil Rays began play in the 1998 Major League Baseball Season. In 2007 the team name was changed to Tampa Bay Rays. The original logo was that of a manta ray (sting ray) hence the Devil Rays... the new name and logo was intended to simply mean rays, as in sunshine.
